Llys Glas rain planters

Llys Glas, Alexandra Rd, Swansea SA1 5AJ, UK

This pilot project diverts water from the art college roof into three rain planters which slow the flow by absorbing the water.

By holding rain water and releasing it slowly the planting helps cool the court yard on hot sunny days. The planters are planted with native species and species which benefit wildlife by creating habitat and providing food. Funded by the Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature grant and Challenge Fund and National Resources Wales funding. Partnership project between Swansea Council, Natural Resources Wales, University of Wales Trinity St David and Urban Foundry.
